In 1986, our founder Carlos Tavora, a member of a Goan family, recognized the rising demand for vegetarian cuisine in Goa, a blossoming holiday destination. With no prior experience in South Indian cuisine or the restaurant industry, he took a bold step and opened a 150-seat South Indian eatery. His keen attention to detail and dedication quickly established Navtara as one of the best veg restaurants in Goa, beloved by both locals and tourists.
In 1997, Navtara evolved into a multi-cuisine vegetarian restaurant, expanding its menu to include Punjabi, Mughlai, Goan, Chinese, and North Indian dishes. This successful model was first replicated in Mapusa in 2005, with numerous locations following across Goa. Today, Navtara continues to uphold its commitment to quality, consistency, and hygiene, making it a trusted name in vegetarian dining and a top choice for those seeking the best veg restaurants in Goa.

In the year 1986, founder Carlos Tavora, hailing from a Goan Catholic family, embarked on a mission to cater to the growing demand for vegetarian cuisine in Goa, a burgeoning holiday destination. Despite lacking experience in both cuisine and the restaurant industry, Carlos boldly established Navtara. Starting as a modest 150-seat South Indian eatery on August 22, 1986, Carlos’s meticulous attention to detail and unwavering dedication soon made Navtara a trusted household name for locals and tourists alike.
Fast forward to 1997, Navtara Veg Restaurant underwent a transformation into a Multi-Cuisine Vegetarian Restaurant, expanding its offerings to include Punjabi, Mughlai, Goan, Chinese, North and South Indian dishes. This evolved model has been replicated across Goa, starting with the Mopusa restaurant in 2005, with many more locations following suit.
